The Zoo

Instead of birthday parties the kids both opted for a family trip to the zoo. So the first part of June we headed over to the West side, spent an afternoon by the water, stayed (and swam) in a super cool hotel and then spent a rainy day at the zoo. We all had a great time.

My Little Fish

This is Sis jumping off the diving board. It's 10 ft deep here. Both the kids mastered this in the last month! They have become very confident in the water.

Baseball Season Begins

Bro had his first baseball game of the season tonight. He was so worried about striking out but ended up hitting it on the first pitch each time he was up to bat, and he made it home both times! His athletic ability has really matured this summer.He went to the game looking like this, as he missed while playing catch with dad yesterday! The goggles during swimming just added to the intensity as well. This is what it looked like last night. A side note - it was over 100 degrees out there tonight!

Playing Catch Up

Life at the end of the school year kept me so busy I barely had time to sleep let alone blog! I have been spending the last few weeks just catching up - on sleep, on housework, on yard work, on kid time, on friend time and now on blogging. I'm still behind in most of these areas but I'm getting there slowly and surely. I have been reminded time and time again that I have not updated since sis's b-day thus the post overload below!

Camping

We take a camping trip every summer. It's something the kids always look forward to. This is the first time we have stayed more than one night. We found a perfect spot down by a small stream and made ourselves at home. It was a bit cooler this year but ended up being the best trip we have had so far.

Water Babies

Since school has been out we have been living in the pool. Between the pool some school friends graciously share and a public pool in town, we have only missed two days in the last two weeks!I personally don't enjoy swimming outdoors unless the weather is in the mid-80's but the kids could care less about the temperature. Besides there's always the hot tub if you need to warm up.

Slip n' Slide

We bought this a couple weeks ago but the weather has been so unseasonably cold that we haven't been able to use it. Needless to say the kids were thrilled when I let them get it out today. I didn't attempt it this year after I discovered last year the whip lash you get from the thing as an adult!

Our Summer Charge

Meet Spiderman. He belongs to a Kindergarten teacher at the school. We are caring for him for the summer. The kids adore him. It will be hard for them to give him back.

It's important to be prepared

Sis decided she needed her rain boots for bike riding. Notice that the ground is dry! In her defense it has been raining a lot lately, yet these boots have become a favorite regardless of the weather! Oh and they are two sizes too big!
