A Visit from Papa & Granny

Granny and Papa were able to visit this past weekend. I can't even begin to tell you how excited the kids were. We had a great time with quite a bit of playing and a walk with dinosaurs! But we left the camera at home all weekend...oops! I found this on my camera though and thought it was too good to not share.

Little Sis's "big girl bed" also arrived with Granny and Papa. She tells everyone that this is her princess bed that "Papa builded for me". It was sad to see her in such a big bed as it means she is growing up. Let me rephrase that, it was sad until that night when she slept through the night... IN HER OWN BED!!!! Oh Happy Day!

Hello Spring!

I just had to get the photos of last week's nasty weather off the top of our blog, as Spring has finally graced us with her presence.
We had an absolutely beautiful weekend...and achy bodies from all the yard work to show for it. Not that I am complaining, as spring is my favorite time of year.
A time for new beginnings!
Welcome back beautiful Spring! How we have missed you.

NOnoNOnoNOnoNO

This is what we woke up this morning.

What's the big deal you might ask, it's only mid-April and you are from Wyoming where it has been known to snow on the 4th of July. (Yes, I said the 4th of JULY, for those of you not from there or whom I haven't told this to before).

The BIG deal is that I don't live in Wyoming any more, and it does NOT snow in April in Washington... well, not normally anyhow.

Come on, it's spring. The tulips are out. My daffodils have already bloomed and faded. Where are you, Sunshine?

Easter Photos

Here's some photos of the kids on Easter morning. As you can tell the excitement of the Easter Bunny's arrival had them out of bed WAY too early! (Check out the bedhead!)

I forgot to take any photos this year of the dying of the eggs or the actual eggs once they were complete, so this lousy photo will have to suffice!

Bro started questioning the reality of the Easter Bunny this year. "Mom, is the Easter Bunny real?", he asked.
"Do you think he is real?", I returned.
"I think so," he said.
"Well then he is real to you, isn't he?" This is the only answer I could come up with that wouldn't take away the magic but that also wasn't completely a lie.
I imagine we will be fessing up next year though. How sad!

Scream like a little boy?

This week Sis has been saying:
  • "That is so cool, I almost screamed like a little boy."
  • "Oh, that sounds like it will make me scream like a little boy."
  • "I had so much fun I wanted to scream like a little boy."

I finally asked her where she got that from.

"A boy on a cartoon said 'I almost screamed like a little girl'. But I like to say 'I almost screamed like a little boy' 'cuz I'm a girl."

Well explained if I do say so myself!

*I'll post some fun Easter photos sometime this week. Just didn't have much time tonight and wanted to share this before I forgot.

Comedy at the Dentist

The kids had their 6 month routine dental appointments today. All looks good...no cavities, etc.

Bro is disappointed as x-rays show he probably won't lose a tooth for another 6 months. He swears he has a loose one now (actually it has been "loose" since sis knocked hers out in Oct.). The hygienist couldn't find it. :) He does have some new teeth to boast about though. His 6 year old molars are almost completely in now.

Sis sure had the staff cracking up. It started like this:
Hygienist: "I'm just going to brush your teeth now."
Sis: "I already brushed my teeth."
Hygienist: "Oh, you did? Well, I'm just going to do it again and make sure you got them all real good."
Sis: "Well, I don't like brushin' my teeth."

She did open up after getting to feel the polisher with her fingers and she giggled through the cleaning.

Then she tooted. "Oops. My toots don't last long," she said. "Anyways doctors can't smell toots. That's how come they wear that thing (mask) over their noses." I just had to laugh as did the hygienist.

Later after meeting up in bro's examine room (he did his without mom this time, such a big boy). She starting chatting to all the girls in the office as they walked by. They kept telling her how cute she was as they walked us out. I think sis was enjoying the attention.
"Are you all ready to go, sis?" I asked.
"No" she said.
"Why not?"
"'Cuz we're not leaving yet." she replied.

Ironic

Last week was Spring Break. I had all these great plans of things to do with the kids, most of them outdoors, after all it was almost April.

However, the weather played an evil trick on me and it was chilly and windy all week so my plans had to be altered.

Why am I surprised? After all I grew up in Wyoming and it always snowed on spring break then.

It snowed here as well, on Wednesday. Some bad April's Fools joke, I am certain.

We still had a good time but the week was not what I had been longing for.

Then yesterday the weather turned. We spent the day outdoors enjoying the sunshine.

I sent Big Bro back to school today with a heavy heart, as it was another beautiful day.

As I type this, it is still almost 60 degrees outside.

How irritatingly ironic life can be.
